Einarr Makes Things

Dreadtober, Week 4

The end of Week 4, and the finale!  I stayed up way past my old-man bedtime to get the Jaeger-Kan done!  Still a few minor things I'd like to work on, but she's easily 'Battle Ready'.  I added ejecting brass coming from the big shoota, and added some hydraulics in unimaginative gray to the Kan Klaw.  I'm really pleased with how the mess of cabling and hoses that I added to the Klaw worked out.  I would have liked to spend more time, and a few things would've been done differently now that I've finished.  Good news is that there are two more to be kitbashed and painted, so I'll get that chance x2!! Special thanks to Marc van Holst for putting Dreadtober together, and special thanks also to The Makers Cult, whose Iron Hive mini I printed and the kitbashed into a glorious chariot for my grot!  #Dreadtober2022 #Orktober #TheMakersCult

Dreadtober, Week 3

Week 3 is over?!  I need to seriously pick up the pace!!  I added some plasticard details, and some printed bits, and painted some.  The Kan Klaw is 1/3 done - lower klaw bits and the casing are in progress but not added yet.  The grot pilot is out while I give him some controls to hold on to and control his Jaeger.  I will be adding more rivets and printed details, and painting like a madman to get the Jaeger-Kan done in 10 days :)   #Dreadtober2022  #Orktober

Dreadtober, Week 2

Didn't get much done this week as I'm going into the hospital for heart problems!!  But I did a little painting and 3D printed some parts yet to be seen!  Hopefully Gork and Mork will be with me and it won't be surgery!  #Dreadtober

Dreadtober, End of Week 1

I didn't have a lot of time to work on the Looted-Tyrannid-turns-Jaeger/Killa Kan this week, but I got a little done.  I applied some blue paint and Drakenhoff nightshade in places, just to see how it would look, and I got started on Ork-ifying the model.  The cockpit got a bolted-on gob (because it's super orky, amirite?!), and I kitbashed an ammo drum to the big shoota.  I could not find my rivet punch, but the punch for making bolt heads was on the hobby desk and got put to work.  Still need some more, but I'm pleased with how they add a little character.  Next week will see a lot more changes, as more armor panels get added, plus an ejection port and a stream of empty brass will go on the big shoota.  #Dreadtober  #Orktober #TheMakersCult

Dreadtober is almost here!

Dreadtober is an annual event where a bunch of people build and paint a dreadnought (or the equivalent model on at least a 60mm diameter base) in the month of Orktober.  I will be kitbashing a Killa Kan in the style of Pacific Rim, using a base model sculpted by The Makers Cult.  The idea is that my warband tangled with some Tyrranids, and decided that these ones needed to be LOOTED.  So there are biological parts and mechanical parts, and the grot who drives it will be where the head went, using a control rig to pilot the vehicle.  There are two more of these in the unit to be built, but I'm just doing this one for Dreadtober.  Pic: The project, with the grot who will be converted into the pilot.  #Orks #TheMakersCult #Dreadtober #Orktober

The Big New Meta-Project!

I've been an Ork player for some time, and I decided that while I love my army, I want to shake it up a bit.  SO, I am doing a new army solely for the purpose of painting it to a Parade Grade standard.  Or what passes for one at my skill level.  So, I will be pushing my boundaries and learning new painting techniques, and there will be plenty of kitbashing to make the army more unique.
